Tesla's Growth Slows in Q1 as It Built Way More Cars Than It Sold

Tesla is currently struggling to sell cars, at least through the first quarter of this year. The company today released preliminary figures regarding the amount of vehicles it has produced and delivered through March 31, 2024. The results speak for themselves: 433,371 total cars were produced but only 386,810 were delivered. While Tesla doesn't break out individual models, it does list the combined figures for the Model 3 sedan and Model Y SUV as well as «other models,» which include the bigger Model S sedan and Model X SUV. In Q1 2024, Tesla built 412,376 Model 3/Y but only sold 369,783; the other models accounted for 20,995 that were built and 17,027 that were delivered. The latest quarterly delivery results are not only a lot lower than the same period in 2023; they're also far short of projections. The latter were all

2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S Edition 1 Packs 416 HP, Costs Over $82K

For 2024, Mercedes not only refreshed its curvaceous CLA-class compact luxury sedan, but it also added a new AMG-tuned CLA45 S model at the top of the lineup. The new S model replaces the previous CLA45 and gains 34 ponies for a whopping 416-horsepower total. To commemorate the upgrades, the German automaker is creating the CLA45 S «Edition 1,» which packs a host of flashy design cues and a loftier price. AMG Dresses up the CLA The 2024 Mercedes-AMG CLA45 S Edition 1 is distinguished by Mountain Grey Magno paint in a matte finish, accentuated by the AMG logo in red atop a checkered-flag graphic along the sills of the sedan. The same hue appears on the front splitter, dive planes, intake vanes, sideview mirrors, and the rear diffuser, with the Edition 1 including the AMG Aerodynamics package as standard. The Edition 1 is also fitted with matte black 19-inch w

2024 Buick Envision Priced Starting at $37,295, Gets Huge 30-Inch Screen

Buick's all-SUV lineup has been undergoing some changes recently with the company most recently updating the 2024 Envision. We first saw the handsome redesign back in June, but the company has released new information about the revamped Envision as the SUV's summer arrival draws nearer. As with the other recently updated Buick models, pricing is broken down into three trim levels, with the Envision ditching the old mid-level Essence in favor of a new Sport Touring trim. The barrier of entry for the Envision has risen to meet the more modern SUV, with pricing for the entry-level Preferred trim jumping $2500 to start at $37,295. The new Sport Touring trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels in place of the

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup Car Means Business - caranddriver.com - South Korea

Hyundai Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup Car Means Business

With the introduction of the new Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car, Hyundai is taking its Ioniq 5 N racing in an all-new electric professional racing series. The new Cup car builds on the already sporty Ioniq 5 N, the performance version of the Ionia 5 electric SUV, bringing it up to the demanding level required for professional racing. Hyundai started by giving the car a complete makeover. The front end is all new with a large lip and prominent dive planes protruding from a more functional front bumper. New over-fenders round out the eN1's body-kit changes, while a gargantuan rear wing sits proudly at the rear of the car. We want whatever sort of weight-loss diet Hyundai used to get the Ioniq 5 N so svelte. While the roadgoing car weighs just over 4900 pounds, Hyundai estimates the Cup car tips the scales at closer to 4350 pounds. U

Slant-Nose 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo Is Today's Bring a Trailer Pick - caranddriver.com - Italy

Slant-Nose 1982 Porsche 911 Turbo Is Today's Bring a Trailer Pick

Sonderwunsch is Porsche-speak for «special wishes,» the company's ultra-exclusive customization program that will build its customers almost anything they can dream up (and pay for). For gearheads who were young in the 1980s, there was perhaps no more special Porsche to wish for than a slant-nose, whale-tail 911 Turbo, one of the select few anointed by the factory with the look of the racing 935s. In 1983, we were so smitten with one beastly red coupe that we put it on the cover of our February issue. That very same car is now up for auction on Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos). It's a 1982 911 Turbo fitted with the rare slant-nose option from Zuffenhausen's specialists. Originally air-freighted into the U.S. in the summer of 1982, it was federalized to meet U.S. standards and was the first and only example of its kind in the country when it was photographed for the cover shot. Priced at $95,000 when new ($295,000 in today's dollars), this slant-nose car was every bit as exotic

What's Ahead for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and EQS - caranddriver.com - China - Germany

What's Ahead for the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and EQS

The keepers of the three-pointed star once proclaimed the goal of Electric Only. Now, though, in the wake of a slowdown of EV adoption in major Western markets, the new mission is Electric First. And Mercedes is not alone. Although the European Parliament just confirmed its decision to end sales of new combustion-engine passenger cars in 2035, China, now the world's largest market for luxury automobiles, has extended the ICE grace period to 2060 (but this applies only to alternative combustibles such as hydrogen, biofuels, and synthetic renewables). As a result, Mercedes will likely continue building internal-combustion engines for decades to come. In a parallel move, the Germans are also going to pull out all the stops to consolidate their leading position in the luxury segment. The plan includes boosting the Manufaktur division, which is expected lift personalization to a new level; the further evolution of the Maybach brand; and a major push to AMG, which is readying a bunch of fully electric Porsche fighters. EQS Updates and Changes The Merced

Hey, Friend! There's a 1994 Isuzu Amigo on Bring a Trailer - caranddriver.com - Japan - state California

Hey, Friend! There's a 1994 Isuzu Amigo on Bring a Trailer

Sold in the U.S. starting in 1989, the Isuzu Amigo wanted to be your dirt-slinging pal, a chunky little three doored mutt with a retractable canvas rear roof for getting the most out of sunny days on the trails. This brightly colored 1994 Amigo with some sweet '90s graphics is like an Easter basket just waiting to be filled with camping gear. It's up for auction on Bring a Trailer (which, like Car and Driver, is part of Hearst Autos). The Amigo was called various by various names around the world and was essentially a two-door version of the four-door Isuzu Rodeo SUV. (Incidentally, the Rodeo had the rath
