Renault-Nissan Alliance reveal teaser images for upcoming SUVs

The Renault-Nissan Alliance in India recently previewed four new SUVs that are expected to arrive soon. Two of these SUVs will be C-segment 5-seat SUVs, while the other two will be 7-seat C-segment SUVs. As has been the case with shared models, Renault and Nissan will have one 5-seater and one 7-seater, each. These new SUVs will be based on the latest version of the CMF-B platform, which underpins the current generation Duster, which sadly isn’t sold in India any more. We expect the first model from the CMF-B platform to launch in 2025. When these upcoming SUVs do arrive in India, they will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.

Jean-Dominique Senard, Chairman of Alliance, Luca De Meo, CEO of Renault Group, and Makoto Uchida, Director, Representative Executive Officer, President and CEO of Nissan, were present at the press conference held at the Renault-Nissan plant in Oragadam, Chennai. Speaking of which, the said plant has already produced over 2.7 million cars, with over 1.2 million solely being exported to over 100 destinations. There have also been around 4.4 million powertrains produced at the Chennai plant. The date of the conference, which was March 27, also marked the 25th year of the Renault-Nissan Alliance.

For the future, the Renault-Nissan Alliance also plans to scale up exports and expects India to be a major export hub. Furthermore, the Alliance plans to develop India as a ‘360 degree hub’, which will help serve Renault and Nissan’s global plans for the future. For example, the joint venture has committed to developing the Renault Nissan Technology & Business Centre India (RNTBCI) as one of the main centres of digital, critical intelligence and connectivity.
