Mahindra XUV400 test mule hints at changes inside and out

The Mahindra XUV400 has been spotted undergoing testing several times now, giving out crucial details. This time, it has been spied on a frozen lake in Scandinavia undergoing cold-climate testing.

The test mule in the images appears to be an older prototype with makeshift headlamps and taillamps. However, the latest test mules that have been spotted while taking rounds in India had good shape with headlights and DRLs inspired by the yet-to-be-launched BE.05 electric SUV. The blanked-off grille on the EV might be altered for the ICE-powered XUV300, but the rest of the cosmetic changes on both cars will be similar. The pictures here also show that the car gets new alloy wheels equipped with all-disc brakes. Even the rear section will be revamped with connected LED taillamps.

The XUV400 EV was recently updated with a floating touchscreen and other features. We expect the XUV300 to get these, along with a digital instrument cluster. Both the facelifted cars are likely to sport more feature additions, including ADAS. The sensors in the windshield confirm this, however, which variants of these cars will get this tech is yet to be confirmed.

The latest updates to the XUV400 included a 34.5kWh as well as a 39.4kWh battery pack option. The EL Pro variant can be had in either pack, but the EC Pro can only be had with the smaller battery. The claimed range on a single charge for the long-range variant is 456km, while for the smaller EC Pro, it is 375km. Power output remains the same at 148bhp and 310Nm of torque. With the facelift, Mahindra might bring in improvements and offer an even better driving range to garner the interest of more buyers.
