2025 Hyundai Tucson Gets a Facelift in New York

  • The 2025 Hyundai Tucson shows off refreshed styling for the 2025 model year at the 2024 New York auto show.
  • The ’25 Tucson features a revised interior, with an available, joined 12.3-inch media and 12.3-inch driver display screens.
  • Hyundai says the updated Tucson is heading to dealers in June, with hybrid models following later this summer.

The New York International Auto Show is in full swing, and Hyundai is adding to the mix with a refreshed Tucson. For 2025, Hyundai is lightly updating the exterior, but adding extra consumer-facing tech to the cabin by way of massive screens. Hyundai is also moving the Tucson’s shifter to the column on certain models.

The powertrains are basically the same as the ’24 models, but let’s get you up to speed. The base-model 2.5-liter I4 carries over and sends 187 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission. Hybrid Tucson models sport a 1.6-liter turbocharged four under the hood that works with an electric motor to make a combined 231 hp. The plug-in hybrid model also uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged mill but cranks up the electric motor to make a combined 268 hp. Both hybrid versions use a six-speed automatic transmission and come standard with all-wheel drive.

Hyundai’s styling updates are subtle, with a new grille, revised bumper cover, and daytime running lights at the front. At the rear, you’ll see that the Tucson sports a new bumper cover. The outdoorsy Tucson XRT model sees new roof rails.

While the exterior styling isn’t too far of a departure from the ’24 model, the interior is a different story. A new dashboard is home to a 12.3-inch media screen that’s flanked by a 12.3-inch digital driver display. This available display package is joined by other new features like an available column shifter and added buttons and knobs. A revised center console and steering wheel round out the major updates. It’s worth noting that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto stick around for ’25.

Hyundai also says that the ’25 Tucson will be available for over-the-air updates, which could help alleviate a pain point during ownership. These updates can hit different modules that control the powertrain, safety, and multimedia
