Orpington Go-Ahead Bus Depot Fire Amid Huge Explosions

Firefighters were called to the bus garage at Farnborough Hill in Orpington after a huge fire broke out at the depot in south-east London on early Thursday morning.

The London Fire Brigade received calls from members of the public as smoke was seen rising into the sky. It took nearly three hours to get it under control.

Seven buses were destroyed and four others were badly damaged in the blaze after locals reported hearing loud bangs from the direction of the bus depot.

Not many workers were at the depot at that time of the morning and this minimised any injuries that might have occured.

About 30 other vehicles stored at the garage were moved to prevent the flames spreading further.

Transport for London are assisting the emergency services and the bus operator Go-Ahead with investigations into the fire outbreak
