Pedestrian Dies In Manchester Car Collision

Greater Manchester Police have launched an investigation after a man was struck by a car on Friday night resulting in his death.

Police in Stockport recieved 999 calls around 7.50pm to reports that a man has been hit by a car. He is described as white, around 6ft 2 in tall, of stocky build and was wearing tracksuit bottoms and a dark coloured top.

The silver Mercedes ML was travelling along Churchgate when it turned left into Silk Close. The car then collided with the man. The driver stopped at the scene and no arrests was made.

Emergency services rushed to the scene but the man, in his 40s, was later pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. His next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers.

Greater Manchester Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision and anyone who saw the man prior to the incident to come forward.’ Anyone with information should contact GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741 quoting incident number 2713 of 16/08/19.
