Police investigation is underway to establish the identity of a man who died after being hit by an HGV truck on the M53 in Wirral.
A Merseyside Police spokesman said: “We were contacted at 10.50am, Friday 16 August, to reports that a male had been in collision with an HGV on the Liverpool-bound carriageway of the M53 in Wirral.
“Officers attended the scene at junction 4 of the motorway close to the sliproad for Clatterbridge. The male has been pronounced dead at the scene.”
It happened at Junction 4 at Clatterbridge in Wirral at 10.50am near the sliproad on the motorway’s northbound carriageway causing severe disruption.
The motorway was closed in both directions for around seven hours between Junctions 4 and 5. The carriageways reopened around 7pm and traffic quickly returned to normal.
