Car Crash Into Church Injuring Seven People

The driver of a blue Audi has been arrested on suspicion of driving whilst over the prescribed limit following a collision with another vehicle.

One of the colliding vehicles, a silver Peugeot, left the road and crashed into the church shortly before midday.

Seven people, including children and a baby were injured. An empty buggy in the doorway was also crushed after the collision on Regent Street in Leeds city centre.

West Yorkshire Police said the 27-year-old driver and other passengers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

Police also confirmed that two children who were on the pavement when the crash happened suffered minor injuries.

A woman passenger in the car that hit the building is in hospital in a critical condition. The new UCKG Church opened in January. It’s aims are to provide practical, emotional and spiritual support for all-comers and help for people wanting to make a new start, whatever their situation in life.
