A teenage driver has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a Ford Focus he was driving was in collision with a cyclist shortly before 7pm on Monday.
Police believe the 17 year old victim was deliberately hit. He was pulled underneath the car, and deliberately dragged along a road in east London.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Bazely Street, Poplar. By the time emergency personnel arrived, the teenage victim had already been pulled from under the car by a group of bystanders.
They lifted the red Focus from the ground while others dragged the cyclist out from underneath the car. Paramedics treated the victim at the roadside while fighting for his life.
The 16 year old suspect fled the scene of the accident and was arrested on suspicion of murder the following day. He remains in police custody.
